Not all my columns in the Bangor Daily News are as well timed, but irruptive owls was this week’s topic: http://bangordailynews.com/2013/11/29/outdoors/maine-experiencing-a-canadian-owl-invasion/. The funny thing is, there were only about a dozen sightings when I wrote the column. The number doubled by the time the article ran. The beauty of writing a column is that I get to speculate without any real scientific basis in fact. But the beauty of the column itself was Rob Speirs hawk-owl photo. Thanks Rob.

Subject: [Maine-birds] Snowy Owls map
It has been fun seeing all the Snowy Owl reports coming in. I compiled the ones on this list and a few from eBird that are not on this list into a KML file (attached). I think this is all the reports that had a specific location. Enjoy!
