[Maine-birds] Monhegan highlights, 9/24

Today was one of those golden Monhegan days. Boosted my warbler list to 18, including GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER and HOODED WARBLER, both bright males. Also, WESTERN KINGBIRD, BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER, my first peregrine of the trip, indigo bunting, more Baltimore orioles, and good diverse pockets of warblers finally.

Yesterday saw my one and only white-breasted nuthatch here, winter wren, BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON (juv.)

Seen by others but not me in the past two days: BLUE GROSBEAK, Blackburnian warbler, LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL.

To top it off, yesterday AM, a rainbow at sunrise visible from Lobster Cove as an eagle flew through and scared up all the gulls. Gotta love this place.
