[Maine-birds] Iceland Gull Sabattus Pond, Scaup, Ruddy Duck, Lake Auburn

Hello All,

Checking parts of the Androscoggin River, Lake Auburn and Sabattus Pond.

Peregrine Falcon in usual haunt downtown Lewiston.

Loon and grebe numbers are down from last week on Lake Auburn though a few Common Loon and a Horned Grebe were present.  Also 3 Ruddy Ducks, 3 Bufflehead and 27 Scaup--all Lesser that I could ID.

Sabattus Pond was a bit of a challenge in downpours but a raft of Scaup at south end mostly Lesser but some Greater, hundreds of Mallards, hundreds of Canada Geese from Sawyer Road.  Still many ducks probably Ruddies in north end of lake visible from height of land at a great distance.  Black Ducks here and there.  American Coot from Martin's Point boat launch.

Most unusual from Access Road on east shore--an immature Iceland Gull appearing very white flying north in the company of about 200 Ring-billed Gulls a dozen or so Herring Gulls and three Great Black-backed Gulls in advance of downpours accompanied by thunder.

Not many hazards out there today, happy to say.
