[Maine-birds] Lunchtime storm birding update

Hi all,
Jeannette and I have been out all morning. While our first round of checking Portland area gull roosts were not very productive, three hours spent seawatching from Dyer Point in Cape Elizabeth was very productive.

I'll post a complete list later, but highlights included single DOVEKIE, CORY'S SHEARWATER, and POMARINE JAEGER. A few GREAT SHEARWATERS, 2 LAUGHING GULLS, lots of BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKES, and a decent duck flight.

I've been in touch with a handful of birders who haven't had much to report, yet, but checking listserves to our south, some of the highlights include inland Leach's Storm-Petrels, tubenoses in Long Island Sound, THREE NORTHERN LAPWINGS in MA, and a ROSS'S GULL in upstate NY. Interesting to see such a northern "flavor" to the Megas from a tropical system!

I expect birding to be fairly productive in the coming days, so keep an eye out!
