[Maine-birds] Great Black Hawk Remains

Great Black Hawk spotted at Deering Oaks Park yesterday, 12/11/18, at 3:30 p.m., having a late lunch on a squirrel at the corner of Deering and Park Avenues in SW corner of park.  Unfazed by nearby traffic and a few onlookers.  Dark brown and black back and wings, with tawny highlights on speckled head and shoulders.  Big bird, comparable in size to a Wild Turkey, with strong yellow legs and talons.  Dark hooked beak and alert eyes, frequently checking out its surroundings.  Gorgeous bird!!
