Warm clear weather made the count easy this year although numbers of birds seemed to be low. All reports from this past Saturday's count are still not in, but highlights included good numbers of Pine Grosbeak and Bohemian Waxwing, a few Evening Grosbeak, a late male Northern Harrier and the continuing Glaucous Gull at Knox Ridge. Without a final tally, I don't know for sure yet, but Bald Eagle and turkey numbers seemed to be through the roof.
This Saturday, December 22, is the Hartland count, which I also coordinate. We usually do well with winter visitors up there is anyone is inclined to join us. Recruiting for this count is always challenging. Contact me off-list if you might be available to help out.
Good birding,
tom
