spent about 3 hours at Laudholm Farm today determined to find the American Avocet. It was extremely hot. I searched everywhere it seemed reasonable for an avocet without luck. Searching from the 2nd overlook on the Farley Trail can be difficult as the birds pop up from the river and then go back down where you can't see them. Several times great egrets seemed to disappear in an instant. An osprey was flying over frequently just before I left which seemed to cause many of the birds to fly up and land in another area, but still no avocet.
