[Maine-birds] Maine Bird Atlas - Weekly Challenges, 7/26

Hi everyone:

Last week's results:

Common Loon picked up three new blocks, brining the total to 169. Great effort in Priority Blocks brought us up to 26% complete, keep it up! And Bay-breasted Warbler made it into the double-digits thanks to one additional confirmed block this week. Congratulations to Kathie from Waldoboro, Bob from Hudson, and Sue from Falmouth for being chosen by Excel's random number generator as winners this week!

Here are the challenges for this week:

1) American Goldfinch - it is the beginning of the end as goldfinches are beginning to nest. Any confirmed codes will put you in the running this week.

2) Priority Block Challenge - Will this be the week we get to 30%? Find an incomplete Priority Block near you and work on the breeding codes. To track this challenge, please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/tobv2xBvW82N3BAW9

3) Indigo Bunting - This species has proven to be difficult to confirm despite their range, with only 40 confirmed blocks. There were quite a few confirmed records this past week, mostly Carrying Food or Feeding Young, so check their map for any local places you can try 'bumping up' a record to confirmed: https://ebird.org/atlasme/map/indbun

Good birding and happy atlasing!
