[Maine-birds] Maine Bird Atlas - Weekly Challenges, 7/5

Hi everyone:

Thanks for your patience on these challenges getting out during the holiday weekend.
Last week's results:
Good work all around! 30 records were submitted with confirmed Yellow Warblers, adding 18 new confirmed blocks to their map. Unfortunately the harder challenge of confirming Yellow-throated Vireos went unmet this week - I'll give you a "bonus entry" in this week's drawing if you can find one this week. Only a couple people submitted the Priority Blocks they surveyed but there were 17 Priority Blocks completed this week, so we're making progress! July is prime time for getting out and racking up codes to complete blocks. Getting to 30% complete (currently 17%) by the end of this season would be a great target to hit. Congratulations to Ashlee in Fort Fairfield and Joe in Denmark for being chosen by Excel's random number generator as winners this week!

Here are the challenges for this week:

1) Cedar Waxwing - this species is a fairly late nester in Maine and we're starting to see an uptick in the number of confirmed reports lately, especially nest building. So keep an eye out for any confirmed records of Cedar Waxwings this week.

2) Priority Block Challenge - Repeating this from last week because this is our priority for the project: We really need volunteers spending time competing Priority Blocks. Take a look at the Atlas Effort Map (https://ebird.org/atlasme/effortmap), find a priority block, go atlasing a morning or two this week, revisit 7+ days later to easily bump possible to probable records, and you're making great progress to completing the block! 3) Tennessee Warbler - our "harder" challenges have had a southern bias lately, so here is a northern/boreal bird. Tennessee Warbler has only been confirmed in ONE block so far, can we double that by next week?

Good birding and happy atlasing!
