Hi all,
This impressive irruption/displacement event of YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS continues. Yesterday evening, Renee and Andy Patterson, Jeannette, and I had 2 juveniles while walking the dogs on Cove Road in Cutler Harbor. They were where the road crosses the cove of Schooner Brook. These birds may have been present for as much as 1-2 weeks.
An extremely rare bird in Washington County and perhaps the county's first record of more than 1 (fide Chris Bartlett), one has to wonder how many of these southern herons are along our shores right now.
