[Maine-birds] 36 plus Barn Swallows-Benton

There are 36 plus barn swallows on the power line going to my barn. It
is hard to get an exact count as they come and go flying around and
coming back to the power line.  I only had one nesting pair in the
carriage house.  I am not sure where the others nested.  Obviously close
by.  It was not in the barn or the shed/pole barn as they have in the
past.  It is good to see.  I was pretty disappointed that the number of
nesting pair here was down to one this year.  My guess is they are
flocking up before they head south.  This is late for them to still be
here.  They usually leave here the first week of August. Barn swallows
are one of my favorite birds because they are such speedy flyers and
seem to have no problem flying in and out of dark places without flying
into obstacles.  /Allan
