[Maine-birds] Additional Highlights This Week and Shorebird High Counts, 8/22-29.

Hi all,

Some additional observations of note, in addition to what I have previously posted, over the past seven days included:

- 1 Patches, Jr, the TRICOLORED HERON X SMALL WHITE EGRET(S) SPP, Eastern Road Trail, 8/23 (with Birds on Tap - Roadtrip! Tour group).

- 1 Fish Crow, Rte 137, Waterville, 8/24 (with Jeannette).

- 3 Fish Crows, Essex St, Bangor, 8/24 (with Jeannette).

- 1 Fish Crow, Bangor Waterfront Park, 8/24 (with Jeannette).

- 9 Great Egrets, Essex Marsh, Bangor, 8/24 (with Jeannette).

- 10 Spruce Grouse in 2 days in 2 places (with Jeannette).

- 1 adult LITTLE GULL, 1 juv. BLACK TERN, 5 Great Shearwaters, 19 Razorbills, etc, Head Harbor Passage, 8/27 (with Chris Bartlett and Jeannette).

- 3 Great Egrets, Downeast Sunrise Trail, East Machias, 8/27 (with Jeannette).

- 1 Surf Scoter, Lubec Flats, Lubec, 8/27 (with Jeannette).

And my shorebird high counts this week were as follows:

Black-bellied Plover: 30++, Pine Point, Scarborough, 8/23 (with Birds on Tap - Roadtrip! Tour group).

AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER (FOY): 1 adult, Eastern Road Trail, 8/23 (with Birds on Tap - Roadtrip! Tour group).

Semipalmated Plover: ~200, Pine Point, Scarborough, 8/23 (with Birds on Tap - Roadtrip! Tour group).

Red Knot (FOF): 2 juv, Lubec Flats, 8/27 (with Jeannette).

Sanderling: 58, Lubec Flats, 8/27 (with Jeannette).

Dunlin: 1juv, Lubec Flats, 8/27 (with Jeannette).

BAIRD'S SANDPIPER (FOY): 1 juv, Lubec Flats, 8/28 (with Jeannette).

Least Sandpiper: 200+, Eastern Road Trail, 8/23 (with Birds on Tap - Roadtrip! Tour group).

White-rumped Sandpiper: ~40, Eastern Road Trail, 8/23 (with Birds on Tap - Roadtrip! Tour group).

Semipalmated Sandpiper: ~4,000, Sanborn Cove, Machiasport, 8/27 (with Jeannette).

WESTERN SANDPIPER: 1 juvenile, Eastern Road Trail, 8/23 (with Birds on Tap - Roadtrip! Tour group).

Short-billed Dowitcher: 8, Lubec Flats, 8/28 (with Jeannette).

American Woodcock: 1, Burn Road, Topsfield, 8/26 (with Jeannette).

Wilson's Snipe: 1, Burn Road, Topsfield, 8/26 (with Jeannette).

Spotted Sandpiper: 2, Gardner Lake, Whiting, 8/24 (with Jeannette).

Solitary Sandpiper: 2, Essex Marsh, Bangor, 8/24 (with Jeannette).

Lesser Yellowlegs: ~30, Eastern Road Trail, 8/23 (with Birds on Tap - Roadtrip! Tour group).

"Eastern" Willet: 6, Pine Point, 8/23 (with Birds on Tap - Roadtrip! Tour group).

Greater Yellowlegs: 7, Beal's Island Morning Flight, 8/28.
