I need advice. I think I have seen an adult female Canvasback among Amer. Black Ducks and Mallard Hybrids. The bill, size and color pattern look consistent with the photo in Crossley ID Guide. I'm probably wrong so of course I'd like to get help from those of you who are good at this. However, I don't want to post the location of the duck and its companions on the usual places where I ask for help because this duck is, according to Crossley, "a favorite quarry of hunters". I don't want to be responsible for its being shot. (This is not a judgement so please don't start debating the traditional sports- I just want help learning an identification.) Thanks for suggestions.
