[Maine-birds] Petit Manan Island 6/10

Our daily trip Bar Harbor to Petit Manan I. today included the following:

Arctic, Common, and Roseate Terns. Both Arctic and Common are bringing fish to the island. Fortunately birds seem to have small herring. Last year there was a problem with no herring and the predominant prey seemed to be butterfish which were too round for the tern chicks to swallow. Some photos show a smaller thinner fish that was possibly a Sand Lance but not with enough detail to be certain.
Puffins are also returning to the island with small herring. Razorbills were seen today but the Common Murre was not.
Canada Geese were present also.
Non bird: Harbor Seal, Nortern Gray Seal, Harbor Porpoise, Minke Whale. White Admiral butterflies continued to pass over the boat at various places, up to 6 miles offshore.
