Phippsburg, Me map 6 various locations
First off: so far, 5.17 inches of rain per my Davis weather station. And it's still raining down here aplenty
Tremendous road damage every where. Last night rt 209 the primary way in and out of town was closed completely. Open today.
Sebasco Harbor in flooding on golf course, 18 Glossy ibis, will review images later but I don't think any White faced in the crowd. I'll letcha know. I went there specifically for the intention of ibis as they like to hang there in the flooding. I got excellent looks and shots of them poking into the ground (great bill for poking! Ouch) and pulling out soggy worms. Yummy. The ibis got into it a couple of times when gulls tried to steel their worms. Lazy bums those gulls.
A lone Kildeer in the bunch
Loads of Barn Swallows zooming over the grass for some bugs rising out of water
Gulls, Ring Billed, Black Backs, Herrings, no one special but there were 15 or 'em, which is a lot
Canada geese, 19
Totman Cove
Bald eagles #2
Osprey 6
Big fishing fest going on with Snowy egrets #14!
Great Blue Herons # 4
DC cormorants #13
Great Cormorant # 1
Herring gulls
Great black backs
Bonaparte's # 3
Laughing # 2
Common terns # 20
Common Eiders # 45
Common loons # 6 a lot for this time of year. Maybe they got washed down the river!
Tree swallows # 3
American Goldfinches # 12, most for the season so far
Purple finches # 2
Pine siskins, # 4 3 of 'em juves, all the finch folk hanging out together
Blasted Grackles and Euro stars at my feeders. GrrrrG
Northern cardinals # him and her, mated pair
My Mourning dove pals who cares how many anyway
Blue Jays # 3
Ruby Throated hummers # 4, soggy, but doing their courting arcs and fighting over feeders. Good for them!
More later. Bet you're holding your breath for that! Get on your galoshes and go outside!
