[Maine-birds] Belfast Bay census

The following species were found on or at the edge of Belfast Bay on Tuesday, Jan. 15.   This approximately biweekly census covers Belfast Bay as far out as a line from the monument to the mouth of the Little River, and as far up the Passagassawakeag River as its head of tide.

Common Loon 7
American Black Duck 15
Mallard 313(215 males, 98 females)
Common Eider 2(1male, 1 female)
Long-tailed Duck 12( 9 males, 3 females)
White-winged Scoter 3 males
Common Goldeneye 23(18 males, 5 females)
Barrow's Goldeneye 3(2 males, 1 female)
Bufflehead 26(14males, 12 females)
Red-breasted Merganser 6(4 males, 2 females)
Ring-billed Gull 3 adults
Herring Gull 191(154 adults, 29 3rd yr, 4 2nd yr, 4 1st yr)
Great Black-backed Gull 1 adult
Rock Pigeon 2
Mourning Dove 3
Hairy Woodpecker 2
Blue Jay 1
American Crow 34
Black-capped Chickadee 2
Tufted Titmouse 2
White-breasted Nuthatch 3
American Goldfinch 1

24 species.   The Barrow's Goldeneyes were in the harbor area near the public dock.
