Phippsburg, Me Map 6 Sebasco Harbor resort, Round Cove Lane (back road around golf course)
Out driving around looking for birds and post storm scenics, beautiful with snow and ice on trees. snow fall variables amazing here on the southern penninsula: our house, Totman Cove 4-5" with rain and freezing rain keeping totals down but making it mighty treacherous, north on Rt 209 to Sam Day Hill Road (dump road), six or better inches, Sam Day Hill to Parker Head Road and then to Popham (east of Totman Cove), over in the village, by the beach and what's called The Grove (Sea Street) 2-3" no ice, possibly even less snow than that as there is bare ground. In all that driving around about 10 miles or so only a couple of Bluejays, juncoes, chickadees, Rock Pigeons and Euro stars. Feeling very want for birds but enjoying the snow, then at Sebasco CHACHING! Seven Eastern Bluebirds! What an apparition in the snow and ice! Of interest was that we saw them in exsactly the same place we we had seen 17 on Oct 31, 2011 day after freak halloween snow storm. They were even in the same trees! Birds criss crossing Round Cove Lane taking cover in mixed growth woods then darting to feed on rose hips (rosa multiflora) and winterberries. Got pics,
