[Maine-birds] possible Rough-Legged Hawk, Mt Desert near Somesville

Wally reports a possible Rough Legged Hawk flying along the road that
runs between Somesville (102?) and the road that goes to Bar
Harbor(233?) this weekend; the bird was closer to Somesville than to
the Rte 233 turn-off. Has anyone else on the island seen this hawk?
We are always insecure about the ID when we see something even
slightly unusual, but he felt that the markers for a Rough Legged were
present, and he is rather good at hawks.

And the following is not Maine-specific or bird-specific but sounds
as if it might help with counting birds in flocks. I haven't seen the
actual book which is a recent publication for children:
"Great Estimations", a book by Bruce Goldstone that shows you how to
train your eyes and your mind to make reasonable estimations of large
quantities of objects, such as a jar of jelly beans. Named a 2007 Best
Children's Book of the Year by Bank Street College of Education, Great
Estimations makes math fun by turning estimating into a game.
