I came upon a flock of 80-100 COMMON REDPOLLS this afternoon at Beech Hill Preserve in Rockport. The birds were vigorously feeding in a grove of young birches and poplars. As I stood below and downwind, seed shrapnel was falling all around me so heavily I thought at first it had started to snow (despite a clear sky).
