[Maine-birds] More on the Freeport Summer Tanager: new street viewing opportunities.

Hi all,

Earlier today, Dan Nickerson observed what was almost certainly the same, previously-reported SUMMER TANAGER, a short distance away from the originally reported private home, as he birded one of his local patches today: the Porter's Landing area in Freeport.

While I can still provide the contact info for the homeowner who's feeders are not visible from the road, perhaps it is easier to park at the end of Cove Road and wander the streets, politely and considerately checking feeders that are visible from the road.

Dan spoke with several of the homeowners here and pieced together the travels of the bird. He also kindly drew this map, which described his recommended views of feeders (the previously reported home is not at these intersections, for the record).

We hope this will provide less intrusive viewing opportunities for a larger number of birders. He also reported Evening Grosbeaks in the area today.

I've posted Dan's map to our store's public Facebook page:
