This weekend Aaron Beechy reported a white wader had been seen by members of the Amish bird group in Hodgdon in Aroostook county. The bird was tentatively ID'ed as a juvenile Little Blue Heron.
-- I was in the area for work today and stopped in at the farm. Aaron and the boys proudly led me to a remote farm pond to see the bird. Though we unfortunately flushed it as we arrived, it landed on a distant snag and I was able to see the bird well enough to confirm their ID.
I believe this to be a county first and the northern-most record of the species in the state. (Wish there was a book that had these types of state and county records listed...😉)
