Just off our back deck is a white cedar tree which this year is so loaded with cones the branches droop. For the past few days we've enjoyed watching a flock of 70 or so pine siskins feed on the seeds in those small cones. Haven't seen siskins in a couple years, although one spring we watched them nest and raise young in this same tree in March with snow on the ground. As an aside, the scales from cedar cones make excellent mulch :).
