Phippsburg Me map 6 Totman Cove
Just had Northern shrike land on tip of balsam. photo below. Not a bad pic considering it was through the living room window and I was still in my bath robe! My husband had just commented that there were hardly any birds at the feeders this morning. We usually have dozens of Juncos, chickadees, gold finches, jays and mourning doves, if nothing more interesting. The shrike could explain the day's lack of activity so far. This is the third shrike to appear here in a month, a very high count for any winter, but esp here. Are high numbers or sightings of shrikes being reported elsewhere? If so, could it have to do with the same phenomenon that is bringing all the Snowies?
