For anyone interested, I wanted to pass along a few photos I took of the Thayer's Gull at the Shawmut Dam. They were taken yesterday, 21 January 2014.

Here it is standing, definitely smaller than the American Herring Gulls and short billed. Primaries are well into the Thayer's spectrum.

And a flight shot showing the classic dark outer webs and tips. Dark bar on the secondaries and thick dark band on the tail.
After missing Derek's bird in 2010, I figured it'd be awhile before another was found. I certainly didn't think I should be looking in Somerset County; nice find Louis!
