The grebe is still hanging out in the northeastern end of the lake as of this evening. The fates aligned as I had plans for an afternoon boat ride with relatives who live on Togus. We (and a kayaker) got good looks of the bird off one of the lakes smaller islands. After seeing the grebe at a distance, the bird dove and resurfaced just a few yards ahead of our boat. We backed off and continued our boat ride, but I saw the bird at a distance in the same general area as we returned to the dock around 5:30.
