From about 8:30 to 9:30 am on Aug 10, the continuing Clark's Grebe was feeding peacefully at the north end of Togus Pond. Four or five Common Loons, an immature Common Tern, and an immature Bald Eagle were also in the area. Danny Danforth

A CLARK'S GREBE that was photographed yesterday (8 Aug) by Tom Renckens on Togus Pond in Augusta (posted on Facebook) is currently (7:45AM) visible from Route 105 along the south end of the pond, looking north towards "Griffin Point".
Traffic is picking up on 105 and parking is limited on the narrow shoulders so be careful!

Clark's Grebe has been seen but very, very distantly and unsatisfyingly, toward the north end of Togus pond. Folks have been looking from Route 105, In the direction of a microwave tower and camps on that side of the road a mile or more distant. A few folks have headed out by car to see if there might be a better vantage point.

Refound in north end of Togus Pond it can be seen today only from 44 Albee Rd (near well marked 36) There is construction being done on the house and the very generous homeowners welcome birders today but not during the workweek. Bird may also be visible on opposite site of cove from Young Rd.

Has the Chuck-wills-widow in Orland been heard recently?
Thanks,

I second that. And also curious about our Sedge Wrens. I just assume leave them be but would be nice to know they're still there or if they successfully bred.
