Re: [Maine-birds] Mount Washington Shorebird

Thanks, that was on my shirt list too - it does look rather plump. But is the bill long enough? "Black" on the belly also seems to come and go from frame to frame. The white rump seems consistent (when the angle favors it), as do the longish wings. Downturned-ish bill could be Calidris.

Perhaps Dunlin—based on apparent black on the belly and hints of down-curved tip to bill?  Good find—whatever they turnout to be.

OK, so technically not in Maine, but hopefully in-bounds for this group. Looking for help from experienced shorebird IDers...

While hiking on Mt. Washington last Friday (a dreary day to be sure), we encountered two peep-sized shorebirds perched on a boulder at about 5500 feet elevation. One quickly flushed and stayed hidden behind the rocks, but the other lingered long enough for a few photos and a short video. Having pared my load to the minimum I was without either binocs or a telephoto camera (ain't it always the way?), so all shots were taken with an iPhone, from the trail (leave no trace!). I also isolated several captures of the bird's short flight from the video. All can hopefully be accessed in this dropbox folder (link below - fingers crossed it works). My best guess is WRSA, considering field marks and habitat, but as you'll see the imagery is less than optimal and this is not my strong suit by any means. I know there are others out there for whom these are second nature, so I'd welcome your collective eyes (you'll want your specs for this one)!
