[Maine-birds] Snowy Owl on Prout's Neck

Greetings, birding friends! So nice to be out on a birding mission today. We stomped and slid around Prout’s Neck in search of the 2 Snowy Owls recently reported there, and found one. It was roosting on the cobbles near the small wetland as you round the rocky “corner” not far from where you start.

Hopefully you won’t be caught unawares, as we were, that dredging along Western Beach has closed part of the beach to foot traffic. If you park at Ferry Beach you might want to walk on the road instead of cutting over the golf course.

Adding to the fun, we ran into author/naturalist Brian Cassie, who is on a quest to see as many SNOWs as possible this winter. The Prout’s Neck bird was SNOW #99 for Brian!

Peace & good birding,
