[Maine-birds] South Portland Gulls and predator

We headed over to check the gulls behind Hannaford in South Portland today and were looking over a nice pair of glaucous gulls when something gave an unusual (harsh, un-gull-like) call and every gull in the area plus a goodly number of ducks took off. It gave us a nice comparison shot of a glaucous and Iceland gull:

And I looked around like mad trying to figure out what spooked everything, without much luck. So I took some shots of the cloud of gulls, and in checking them over ran across what looks to be the culprit. Here's a cropped shot:

It doesn't seem like a likely spot for a jaeger, but I'm not sure what else to make of the profile of this bird, particularly the white stripe on the top of the wing and what sure looks like long tail feathers and a lumpy head profile. Has anybody else seen anything unusual chasing the gulls in Portland Harbor?

Cheers,

Matt
