[Maine-birds] Franchman Bay, Petit Manan

22 July...
The first large numbers of Gannets appeared in the bay today. Mostly adults with a few subadults. Several long lines of Gannet passed across the bay in long lines with individuals evenly spaced like geese. Numbers varied from 6 to 20 birds in each group. There were also many individual birds that were working the schools of mackerel that are all through the bay. Several Gannets were seen in upper Frenchman Bay and within 100 yards of the mainland areas at Hancock Point and Sorrento.
The Sheep Porcupine eaglet has left the nest as of 7/20.
The daily trip to Petit Manan Island had 70 Common Murres, fledling Roseate Tern, many fledgling Common Terns on 7/20. Puffins are still bringing food to the island although the numbers carrying food are decreasing.
