[Maine-birds] Offshore birds

Hello all,
I am a naturalist for Bar Harbor Whale Watch and its been pretty darn awesome out there when I've had a chance to go. Nothing rare and earth-shattering- just a lot of cool birds. Heaps of greater shearwaters and wilsons storm petrels. A few sooty shearwaters and the odd manx. As has been mentioned, lots of Northern Gannets- especially right in Frenchman Bay but stretching out to the 'Ballpark' and the 'Bumps'- 25-30 miles offshore. I've seen parasitic and pomarine jaegers as well as great skuas recently. They are never abundant. Small flocks of phalaropes are common- both red-necked and red (or whatever they are called officially, northern?) Lots of fulmars were seen early in the season- but I haven't seen one in the last few weeks. Thats pretty much it- puffins also showing up off shore- but of course heaps and heaps round Petit Manan along with the razorbills, murres, guillemots and terns. The research team mentioned banding 30 pufflings this year out of 60 nests.
