[Maine-birds] Bird Trivia

I have a friend who lives in the LaGrange/Howland area. Occasionally she calls me about birds she's seeing. In December she called and said, "I have Snowflakes." I'm thinking - that's not so unusual in Maine in December. After a while, I figured out she was talking about Snow Buntings. I saw her yesterday and she showed me her bird book and, sure enough, the book called them Snowflakes. Her book covers birds east of the Rockies and the copyright date is 1906. I think it's a wonderful name as they do resemble snowflakes blowing in the wind!
