[Maine-birds] "Godzilla", Newfies, & Ring-Necked Duck - Phippsburg, Feb 12

A group of 24 robins near the tall church on the Kennebec R., Phippsburg, contained at least one "Newfie" (photos), but can't estimate the ratio of them to "regulars".  They seem attracted mostly to large brambles of multiflora rose.

Ca 100 Canada Geese in Mill Pond (behind Parker Head Dam) , included the large, hybrid, whitish goose ("Godzilla") that has wintered in the area for 4 or 5 years.  Also included in the flock, and not noticed until I counted geese on the photo later, was a drake Ring-Necked Duck.

The American Women's Hockey team might be the best team I've ever seen.  Don't sweat this morning's loss to Canada.  Momentary blip.  I predict a gold medal on the 20th.
