Here in North Berwick, the robins have made their annual visit to my hawthorn tree, spending the last two days stripping the fruit. There were about 25, possibly a few more, which is about what shows up about this time most winters. When the sun is warm enough they will fly up to the house eves and drink from the melting snow and ice. I was surprised to see that some of them were in a few of the barberries taking some of the berries. I had not seen this before. About a month ago there was a transient bluebird in the same patch. I was not aware that they would take barberries.
