Dave Gulick and I took a whale watch boat out of Boothbay Harbor (the Harbor Princess) on Tuesday. The weather was a perfect 10, but there were only a couple of Minke Whales that showed up. Of greater interest was the fact the Cory’s Shearwaters outnumbered Greats by about three to one (30-35 Cory’s vs. 10-12 Greats). Also of interest were two adult Gannets perched on the rocks near Pumpkin Ledge. The trip whetted our appetite for pelagic, and we’re planning to go out again next week.
